BERKELEY, Calif. – Local sommelier and Chi Omega social chair, Michelle Klein, has discovered that one of the $3.99 bottles of Charles Shaw Shiraz purchased has a complex flavor. Aerating the wine in an Ikea mug, Klein identified “top notes of alcohol.”

“This is amongst the greatest, cheapest wines we’ve sampled,” Klein remarked, in an aside from the Chi-O Whine and Wine social. “We have tried some of the top-shelf screw-tops, and while they were great, this Shiraz has a robust body flavor. That flavor, of course, is mostly alcohol.”

Other attendees agreed with Klein’s characterization. Visiting Acacia brother John Seena positively reviewed the flavor.

‘“I have to say, I was impressed with the elegance of the selection,” said Seena, whose wine-stained teeth betrayed the six glasses he had before speaking. “There’s a certain je ne se quious about it – the alcohol is poignant, like a Natty Lite, and yet the taste not so offensive, like an inverse Natty Lite. Sipping these dregs is an honor reserved for truly the highest echelon of society.”

At press time, Klein was offering you a solo cup of the wine, and some double-stuff oreos.
