STANFORD, Calif. — This past week, Stanford University in Palo Alto debuted their newest method of implementing DEI in campus photography– AI.

Rather than actually photographing students of color, Stanford web designers realized they could simply artificially generate the representation they wanted. Stanford tech representatives are calling it “one of the most unique uses of AI this decade”.

“Instead of actually admitting and/or photographing women of color, we can just AI them in,” Stanford CS student Ryan McGuffin says. “No one has ever thought of this before and it’s a great alternative to spice up the website”.

By using artificial intelligence to convey that people of color attend their school, Stanford believes it will be able to improve its public image to look more diverse. But this isn’t the only way they’ll be using AI in photos.

Web designers noted that this new method would also allow them to “slim their students down a bit” in order to make them “more presentable for the cameras”. They added that they could additionally smooth out students’ acne and “add makeup to girls to make them look prettier”.

“This is truly unheard of in the tech sphere and we’re excited to see what’s next,” McGuffin adds.

We suppose it is reasonable that this move is part of a larger plan by the Stanford website team to make the campus look more appealing, since that is apparently impossible to do without falsely altering real photographs.
