While we are all aware of the inherent western bias and classist systemic issues of the Academy Awards, its biggest fundamental failures remain hidden, lurking beneath the surface. As much as it pains me to publicize the horrific crime I have experienced, it is necessary to speak my truth. Despite getting a whole 23 likes and only 5 community reports (down from my usual 40), my highly explicit Harry Styles-Barack Obama erotic romance fancam TikTok was SNUBBED for a best editing Oscar nomination.

You may be saying, “oh, but TikToks aren’t eligible for the Oscars,” “this video was incredibly upsetting to watch and badly made,” and “how did you get into my bathtub?” Well, let me break the fricking news to you. These are all lies Big Hollywood is telling you to distract from the fact that they are actively destroying the careers of creatives like me. I’m not alone. Last year, my favorite film of the year —my discord friend’s webcomic where Sonic gives birth to triplets —was not nominated for best cinematography. Wowza! What a complete miss. Coincidence? I think not.

All of us have one thing in common: actual unique art that’s not just mainstream crud, unanimous praise from everyone outside the Academy, and an inability to count. Well guess what Mr. or Ms. Oscar Mayer, we’re not gonna take it anymore. Next year, we’re going on strike. That’s right, the next time Hollywood needs a sequel to the Judy Hopps abortion comic; a TikTok where someone rants about a furry convention-related controversy over the course of several months; or a youtube short about how to get rich by committing tax fraud; they’re gonna have to do it themselves.

Let me put it like this. Each year, the Oscars fail to nominate any one of my THOUSANDS of deeply upsetting edits, their ratings go down. But each year, my views continue to rise – from 1 to 2 to 3 to other numbers of views, I will not be stopped.
