BERKELEY, Calif – On the eve of 4/20, Berkeley Professor Stic Ler issued a bCourses announcement for his EECS “Intro to Good and Bad For Data Science Majors” class which sparked a wave of groans and eyerolls from those who actually read it. His announcement, which ended with “Sent from my iPhone”, was a disastrous attempt at humorously reminding students about an important but disregarded class policy – attendance.

“Hey Folks! Just realized that tomorrow is the big 4-2-0, and just wanted to tell everyone that I get it! I know, I was young and turned up once too (haha, yes I was! Don’t ask!), but school should be your main priority as a student and this class should be your main responsibility as my student. This class is an important opportunity for all the future Sam Altmans, Mark Zuckerbergs, and Priscilla Chan-Zuckerbergs in the class, so don’t waste it!  If I see anyone absent from class tomorrow, I will report you straight to the Center of Student Conduct for drug use and have all your classwork under review for cheating. Alright, have fun and remember, if you want to puff puff pass the class then I better see you tomorrow! 4/20, Blaze It! Sent from my iPhone.”

Despite Professor Stic Ler’s lightheaded message, many students have voiced their concerns of his message as “unnecessarily harsh” and “threatening”. However, it seems his messaging attempt was successful as all 150 of his students appeared in class on Monday afternoon.
